Circulation Services: Alumni and Guests

Check out and return books, laptops, reserves. Pick-up interlibrary loan books and your New York Times subscription. Sign out and reserve study rooms.


Utica College extends the privilege of using the library’s facilities to members of the community for study and research. Utica College is a private institution. The primary purpose of the college library is to serve students, faculty, and staff. 

Although visitors are welcomed, the Utica College Library reserves the right to limit access or otherwise restrict the use of College facilities, equipment, collections and services.

Online Library Resources

When in the library, alumni and guests may use online Library resources. 

Off campus access to subscription resources is limited to UC faculty, staff and currently enrolled students.


Utica College Library desktop computers, printers, scanners and online subscription resources can be used by community members with restrictions: 

  • Computers can be used only by arrangement with a UC Reference Librarian during regular Reference service hours.  
  • Reference hours may not be the same as Library hours -- call ahead if in doubt
  • During busy times, UC students receive priority and computers are not available for guest use. 
  • Identification and registration are required every time a computer use is requested

Alumni and guests may not borrow UC Library laptop computers or other equipment.

UC Librarians and staff reserve the right to limit use of UC computers, printers, and online subscription resources by unaffiliated guests.



Borrowing Privileges

Circulation & Loan Policies:

  • May apply for borrowing privileges.
  • Identification is required.  
  • A fee may apply.  
  • Books (second floor) 60 day loan is granted for circulating collection.
  • Popular Reading: 28 day loan period
Off campus access to subscription databases are not available to alumni and guests due to licensing agreements.


Interlibrary Loan services, course reserve, laptops, media, group study and conference rooms are not available for almuni/guests

Overdue and Billing Policies

Alumni and guests receive the following email notifications for UC library books that they have borrowed:

  1.  2 days before the due date a courtesy reminder to return or renew the books.
  2. 1st overdue notice 1 week after due date
  3. 2nd overdue notice 3 weeks after date due.
  4. 31 days after date due, the item is now assumed to be lost, and a bill is sent for the item with a $4.00 processing fee per item. Library privileges are revoked until the items are returned or the bill is paid.

If materials are returned in good condition, all charges and fees are waived.  Refunds, however, will not be granted.
