The Ultimate

1. CHOOSE A PLAY from the Ultimate Scene Sourcebook

  • Use one of the various indexes as guides (male monologues, female, etc.) to find a play
  • Read about the play in Synopses section

You can get an excellent idea of how this resource works by viewing partial contents in:

This book is on Course Reserve under THE 136

Ask for it at the Circulation Desk.

It can be checked out for a three hour period but only used in the library.

2. LOOK UP THE PLAY to see if it is in Utica College Library Catalog

Search the Catalog on the Library Home Page. Use the Everything search.

Use Title search from pull down if the play has a distinctive title.

If it is a common word, add the playwright's last name

cat

simon

NOTE: Google Books often provides substantial previews: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

3. IF UTICA COLLEGE DOES NOT HAVE THE PLAY

Try web searches in Google to see if a copy is available.  Google Books often has quite a bit of a script.

4. USE INTERLIBRARY LOAN if unable to locate a copy

Use Interlibrary Loan ILLiad service Library Home Page left column or use this link.

  • Register the first time you use the system
  • Make book request from left column options
  • List Author EXACTLY as in Ultimate Sourcebook. List Title of the play as listed in Sourcebook
  • Be careful as you are NOT listing a publisher or a date so it has to be right or failure is quite possible.  They do their best but if the request is unclear…..If you need help locating a play, ask your instructor or Jan:  jamalche@utica.edu
  • Note that interlibrary loan will take a number of days, up to a week or more.  Plan ahead.
