German Drums along the Mohawk

This German translation of Drums along the Mohawk was first published in 1938, in blakletter font, and subsequently republished in the 1950's in contemporary type.

The translator was the American Mildred Fish-Harnack. a member of the anti-Nazi resistance group called the Red Orchestra. Along with her German husband, she was arrested in December, 1942, tried, and beheaded in February, 1943, under Hitler's order, the only American woman executed by the Nazis. Google Books provides a partial preview of the book, Resisting Hitler: Mildred Harnack and the Red Orchestra (Oxford: 2000).
